hrs Create
stunning and colorful works of art using the wax-resist
process. Great for creating large,
colorful banners or flags.

Self Portraits (MH) 5-8
hrs
Digital
photos will be taken, printed out; and students will
use a thin sharpie and pieces of acetate to trace the outlines of their
faces. These will be copied and enlarged. A white cloth will be placed over them and
students will trace the lines they have drawn using hot wax. They will use acrylic paint to color the self
portraits.
Expressive Self Portraits (EMH) 2-5 hrs
Each student will draw self-portraits that clearly express an
emotion. Digital photos will be taken, printed out; and students will use a
thin sharpie and pieces of acetate to trace the outlines of their faces. These
will be copied and enlarged, and students can use colored pencils or watercolor
to complete the self-portraits.
Giant Puppets
(MH) 5-10 hrs Create giant puppets that can tower over a
crowd. Great for parades and festivals!
Mask-Making
(EMH) 2-5 hrs Create masks suitable for wearing or as an art
object
Shadow Puppets
(EMH) 2-5 hrs
Create your own puppet
show! A wide variety of materials and
methods to choose from.
Reed Sculpture (MH)
2-10 hrs Students will work individually
or in groups to create frame sculptures using reed that they will cover with
tissue paper. Suitable for creating small
lanterns or giant puppets.
